At the present GeoPeregrino is a one man firm. We anticipate growing slowly around a primary focus, the analysis and interpretation of geospatial data in the office and in the field. Our specialty is the field geologic interpretation of aeromagnetic maps. A contract with GeoPeregrino will provide you with the full attention and expertise of the principal geophysicist, John W. Cady, who brings to bear more than 25 years of experience in geophysics, geology and mineral investigations.
GeoPeregrino seeks associations with other consultants in order to expand our area of involvement without diluting our focus.
In order to focus on analysis and interpretation, GeoPeregrino leaves the acquisition and warehousing of geospatial data to others. We can find data in the public and private domain, and can often obtain value-added products based upon those data at lower cost than we can produce them ourselves.
Government agencies provide a great variety of geospatial data for free or nominal cost, e.g. the U.S. Geological Survey, the National Geophysical Data Center, and the Geological Survey of Canada.
One of our favorite search engines for earth science related data and organizations is The Virtual Earth. A source of worldwide gravity and magnetic data is GETECH. Two of many sources of image data are the MapFactory and Land Info.
If existing data are lacking, or if higher-resolution data must be acquired for a study, we can design airborne geophysical surveys, solicit bids from airborne geophysical contractors, and monitor the surveys. Although we can process geophysical flight-line data ourselves, for large projects we will usually subcontract data-processing to others, such as EDCON, Patterson, Grant, and Watson, Northwest Geophysical Associates, and Pearson, deRidder, and Johnson.
For your interest, we point you towards the websites of these full-service, potential-field oriented, geophysical companies. When you have seen what they provide, we hope that you will return to us for one or more of the following services:
If our clients are interested, we will freely share with them our knowledge of geospatial data analysis. We believe that we will obtain more work, and especially more interesting work, by empowering our clients rather than keeping them dependent on us.
We are interested in collaborating with academic researchers, at negotiable rates for long term projects. Multiple licenses of ER Mapper are available at a reduced price to academic institutions. We can train students in the field analysis of geospatial data, using RVRV-1, as part of a summer field geology course.
For projects requiring specialized remote-sensing processing and interpretation, or Arc/Info capability, we will ally ourselves with a qualified subcontractor.
We will design, obtain bids for, monitor, and interpret ground geophysical surveys for our clients. To support sophisticated field geologic mapping and mineral investigations, we can lease or purchase instruments to measure magnetic susceptibility, gamma-ray spectrometry, and EM-resistivity, and train clients in their use. All of these instruments can be integrated with our Trimble Pathfinder ProXL 12 channel GPS to record data in the field. We can use our Pathfinder ProXL for differential corrections in the field, to obtain a precision of better than 1 meter.
In short, GeoPeregrino focuses on the analysis and interpretation of geospatial data, first in the office and then in the field.
